The Masterclass Utah Summer Series by Terrestoria is BACK.

Reminiscent of the immensely popular 2018 and 2019 editions of the Masterclass Utah Summer Series, Terrestoria Wine Imports is partnering again with local chefs, educators and leading members of Utah’s hospitality industry—setting the stage for the most convivial seasonal hub of food and wine connoisseurship in the Intermountain West. All Masterclass Utah events are hosted by Terrestoria’s founder and co-proprietor of Lasorte Cuadra in Valle d’Itria (Puglia) Stephanie Cuadra.

INDIGENOUS VARIETAL WINES of Italy - North to South

Given the unparalleled diversity of grapes which originate in Italy alone, it’s no wonder the world’s most plugged-in wine drinkers never tire of the astounding array of wines exported today from across Italy, north to south. Experience wines from Piedmont, Friuli Venezia Giulia and Emilia Romagna to the southern reaches of Campania and Puglia alongside the bespoke culinary creations of Chef John Platt, owner of Midway Mercantile. Participants will enjoy the opportunity to learn about the small family-run estates behind each wine while getting acquainted with some of Italy’s lesser-known indigenous grape varieties including Timorasso, Verdeca, Schioppettino and Cannonau.

Southern Italy is a heterogenous grouping of incredibly diverse lands, histories and ethnographic realties, which is why referring to what Italians call the Meridione (‘the south’) in monolithic terms can be misleading. To help put things into perspective, this flight of five red wines takes a deep dive into four distinct viticultural zones: from Basilicata and Puglia on the mainland to the islands of Sardinia and Sicily.
